TRADES HALL PREMIER LEAGUE RULES 2020

THE LEAGUE WILL BE PLAYED EVERY OTHER THURSDAY

STARTING THURSDAY 09 January 2020

AT THE TRADES HALL CLUB HARROGATE

  START TIME 8.00pm

COST

£2:50 per scheduled match (That is a total commitment of 46 x £2:50 =£115:00).

The league consists of 24 players, we will be playing over 23 weeks. With a presentation night on Week 24 the 26th of November 2020.

MATCHES

On each of the 23 match nights each player will play 2 matches consisting of 4 legs x 501 per match against 2 different players.

To get all the matches in, we will have a prompt 8:00pm start on each match night. So, make sure you are in attendance by 8:00pm.

We will be playing over 3 or 4 boards.

Markers and callers for the first 3 or 4 matches will be those playing in matches 9,10,11 and 12 of that evenings matches.

Thereafter on completion of your match you will stay and mark and call the next match on the board.

POINTS

Points awarded will be 2 points per win and 1 for a draw + a point per leg won. (Win 4-0 you get 6 points, win 3-1 you get 5 points, draw 2-2 you get 3 points, lose 3-1 you get 1 point and lose 4-0 you get 0 points)

To qualify for the points won you must be ready to play your game and mark/call the following game. (This is essential in order to keep the flow of games going and to finish at a reasonable time Please wait for the next players, if you stick to the above format there will be plenty of time before your next match to have a fag and grab a pint – going for a piss is fine, but taking it, is not!)

Points/scores and averages will be taken from the score sheets result boxes; it is each players responsibility to ensure they are correct on the night. I don’t have time to go through them and check that they have been completed correctly.

ATTENDANCE

Anyone who is unavailable for their game must give as much notice as possible.  Failure to give notice of non-attendance will result in 6 points being awarded to their opponents on that night. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required if the game is to qualify as a catch-up game.

In the event of an emergency on the match day then Ian Gibson must be contacted

as soon as possible.  A decision will then be made as to how it will be dealt with.

If anyone fails to attend for 3 consecutive match days without prior agreement they will be eliminated from the competition and any money paid in will be added to the prize fund. The £2:50 match fee is still payable on non-attendance.

If you know you are going to be away for at least 3 consecutive match nights. You may nominate a player of a similar standard to yourself to play your matches for the period you are away. Ian Gibson approval must be sought for your substitute, his decision is final on whether your substitute is acceptable.

If a reserve is available, they may be invited to take the place of an eliminated player.

To avoid catch-up matches, where possible, if you know in advance that at you are not available, could you please arrange with your opponent to play the match in advance to avoid creating a catch-up match.

All catch-up games must be played within 3 match nights’ failure to do so will mean that all match points will be awarded to the non-defaulting player.

All the catch-up games must be played before or after the scheduled games have been completed. You are responsible for YOUR catch-up games, don’t let them build up.

The club has kindly agreed to provide a supper free of charge on most of the match nights all I ask you to do is spend a few quid over the bar in return.

FINANCE

All money paid in (less £70:00 printing costs) will be paid out in prizes at the end of the season (all players will receive some cash).

A prize of £10 for the highest finish and £10 for the quickest leg will be paid out each match night a football card will be to be sold to cover the cost of the match night prizes. No card sold on any of the match nights will result in no finish and quickest game prizes on that night.

There will be a presentation night held at the end of the Season where we hope we will be joined by a professional player who will play all the participants in the league and all prize monies will be distributed.

Monies will only be paid out to those completing the full season with match fees up to date.

Players dropping out completely will forego any money paid in and subsequent prize money.

Or they can nominate a player to take their place with whom they can share the prize with. The player finishing the season will be awarded the prize at the end of the season. It will then be up to the individuals concerned to work out the split.
